July 18, 2023 (Oxford, Connecticut) – Tradewind Aviation, the market leader in regional air mobility, is pleased to announce its new partnership with United Aviate. United Airlines’ industry-leading pilot career development program offers pilots a defined career path to the flight deck as a United First Officer.
As an Aviate-participating Part 135 operator, Tradewind will provide a runway for highly qualified candidates who are either already employed by or have accepted an offer from Tradewind to apply to Aviate and, upon acceptance, receive a conditional job offer as a United First Officer.
The new partnership with Aviate will benefit Tradewind’s flight operations by providing a steady flow of qualified pilot applicants who are seeking to advance their career. It will also give pilots who are already part of the Tradewind team a direct pathway to a major airline, as well as attract non-Aviate pilots who want to fly for Tradewind as an opportunity to apply to the Aviate program and transition to the airline later in their career.
Tradewind continues to experience increased demand for private aviation post-pandemic; this new partnership will provide a further advantage over industry competitors and address the lingering pilot shortage affecting the aviation field.
Through the partnership, aspiring United pilots will receive experience at the highest standards of training in the industry while flying Tradewind’s private and scheduled operations throughout North America and the Caribbean in its fleet of Pilatus PC-12 and Citation CJ3 Jet aircraft.
“At Tradewind, we pride ourselves on our team and reputation of fostering top talent in the aviation industry; this partnership presents an incredible opportunity for our team to continue to grow and master their skills as pilots while also creating meaningful long-term career pathways for our current pilots and others, including flight students, to come,” said Eric Zipkin, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Tradewind Aviation, adding, “working with Tradewind and transitioning to United in as little as two years is a very efficient and strategic way to join a major airline, and we encourage pilots that aspire to the commercial airline segment to consider the many benefits our new partnership can bring.”
“We are delighted to welcome Tradewind to the Aviate program as part of our larger pilot development strategy,” said Captain Michael Bonner, Managing Director of Aviate and Pilot Strategy at United. “Tradewind has a strong track record of preparing leaders in the flight deck, and we are proud this partnership will help advance the careers of aspiring and experienced pilots alike.”
Tradewind’s current and future clientele will also benefit, with the new partnership further opening the door for Tradewind to attract and retain top talent in the industry while providing the “Fly Personal” touch and exceptional level of safety and service that passengers can expect on every Tradewind flight as well as strengthen Tradewind’s existing interline agreement with United.
