TRADEWIND AVIATION INCREASES AIR SERVICE THROUGHOUT THE CARIBBEAN TO MEET UNPRECEDENTED DEMAND
Premium operator of first-class shuttle and private charter flights adds 30% more lift to its Caribbean service to meet customer demand
January 7, 2019 (Oxford, Connecticut) – Tradewind Aviation, premium operator of both scheduled shuttle and private charter flights, has announced increased service throughout the Caribbean for the season in response to unprecedented demand. The independent airline who has been servicing the region since 2006, has received increased interest across all of its shuttle destinations in the Caribbean, including St. Barths, Anguilla, Antigua and Nevis. Demand is also up for its private charter business which offers access to almost any Caribbean destination.
This season, Tradewind has boosted the number of aircraft serving the Caribbean by 30%, with 10 Pilatus PC-12 passenger aircraft in use for the 2018-2019 season. This number is up from six aircraft in 2017-2018, and eight aircraft in 2016-2017. Tradewind Aviation maintains the largest charter/shared fleet of Pilatus PC-12 passenger aircraft in the Americas.
The increase in demand is well timed for Tradewind – and for the Caribbean. Business in the region was down in 2017-2018 due to hurricane damage that effectively impacted many popular Caribbean destinations. As those destinations have bounced back over the past year, Tradewind has progressively reinforced service to accommodate its customers.
“We are pleased to see renewed excitement for travel in the Caribbean following the 2017 hurricane season,” said David Zipkin, Co-Founder and Vice President of Tradewind Aviation. “Our customers have always come first, and we are happy to meet their travel needs with more flight options, more seats and more flexibility.”
This announcement comes as the latest in a series of positive growth developments for the independent airline, who recently announced the return of its scheduled shuttle service to Anguilla and Nevis from San Juan. The airline also launched interline agreements with United Airlines and British Airways in 2017 to provide customers with added convenience when traveling between the carriers’ networks via a single reservation to destinations including St. Barths, Anguilla, Antigua and Nevis.
Tradewind Aviation serves the Caribbean out of San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU); St. Thomas, U.S.V.I. (STT); and Antiqua (ANU), each a major hub, making it easy for its customers to connect with virtually all major airlines from the U.S., Canada, Europe and South America. In San Juan, Tradewind operates its own private lounge offering passengers comfortable space to relax, unwind, and enjoy refreshments and Wi-Fi before boarding their flight. The airline also offers a “VIP Meet and Greet” service for smooth and stress-free transfers between flights.
