Tradewind Aviation’s loyal clients have long been familiar with the Swiss-built Pilatus PC-12, the single-engine turboprop that anchors our fleet. Pilatus and Tradewind have forged a long-standing relationship dedicated to providing clients with the unparalleled safety and unmatched comfort of the PC-12, the best-selling plane in its class.
Tradewind guests will be delighted to find they might see something new on their upcoming private charters as the company took delivery of its first of 20 Pilatus PC-12 NGXs, the next iteration of this iconic turboprop, in early December. The addition of 20 new planes will increase Tradewind’s Pilatus fleet to 38.
Founded in 1939, Switzerland-based Pilatus has established itself as a dominant player in the aviation field with its PC-12 turboprop, and the PC-12 NGX aircraft only strengthens its influence in the industry. Beyond its reputation as a business aviation stalwart, Pilatus is a preferred provider for air ambulance, search and rescue, and surveillance purposes.
The new NGX joins 1,700 PC-12s with a combined seven million flight hours on the market and furthers Pilatus’ best-in-class reputation. The NGX is five knots faster than its predecessor, with a top speed of 290 knots (333 miles per hour); its maximum range extended to 1,765 nautical miles (2,031 miles); and its maximum cruising altitude is 30,000 feet, allowing it to take Tradewind passengers further and faster while remaining reliable, efficient, and safe. It can land on runways as short as 2,000 feet, making it ideal for trips into small airports and FBOs closer to guests’ final destinations.
Beyond its increased range and speed, the aircraft provides Tradewind guests with an even more comfortable experience than ever before. Designed in partnership with BMW Designworks, the new PC-12 NGX features in-flight WiFi and seats with full recline, taller seat backs, and more headroom. Its sleek, hand-stitched leather seats comfortably accommodate up to eight passengers plus two pilots.
Tradewind guests will also take comfort in knowing a flight on a Pilatus PC-12 NGX is among the most sustainable in business aviation—it emits up to 74% less carbon than other leading business jets and turboprops. Sustainability is baked into the Pilatus DNA: Its factory house in Stans, Switzerland is one of the largest solar power plants in central Switzerland, and nearly half of its factory’s electricity comes from hydropower. Tradewind furthers this mission through its carbon offset program, which ensures all flights meet a 4AIR Level 1 Carbon Neutral Rating.
